Production Blog: Editing Process

Image
Hi guys!! Hope you're all having a fantastic day today! Editing the video sure had its challenges. I am currently working on editing it and I have tried my best to work on transitions and for the videos and audio to mix well with the song.  For instance at the start, during the beat drops I made it so it switched to different videos giving it a nice effect.  This allowed me to play with the video and audio clips to my liking and it ended up making a very nice finishing touch to parts of the video. As some parts of the song were slow with lyrics while other parts were more fast paced with a faster beat it made it hard to use the clips. However, I am sure glad that I recorded way too many videos at the Japanese Garden, it allowed me to use a bit from almost every video which was cool to me. I wanted to combine this song and the breathtaking garden together because I believed that they have similar aesthetic. After almost being done editing, I believe that to be the case. To enhan

Production Blog: Filming!

Hi guys!! I hope you're all having a great day so far!!! This weekend, me and Franshesca went to the gardens!! We got plenty of material and we also had plenty of fun!   To be honest, I'm so glad she was able to help me out with this project. Not only did she help me with the biggest part of my project, she also made the whole experience super fun for me!   To begin with, this garden was so beautiful. I've been to the garden once before, but wow. It somehow gets prettier every time I go. The plants were all green and healthy, and the flowers were all bloomed. I almost forgot we were in fall. I'll insert some pictures we took at the gardens!   As for the clips we shot, we recorded a bunch of closeups of the plants. We made an extra effort to also capture shots of the leaves and how the sun shined through them. I think we really did a good job with recording the nature portion of the video. We got closeups, long shots, point of view shots, and many more!   Earlier in the

Production Blog: Updated Plan!

Hiiii guys!!! I hope you guys are having a great day so far! I have GREAT news! I have a buddy! Well, I don't have a official partner, but my friend in A Level is helping me with the filming for my music video! Her name is Franshesca!  Franshesca is going to be coming with me soon to the gardens, she's going to help me and be my cameraman. Since she took Mediastudies AS level already, she can also help me with ideas for different ways of recording the plants!    Since my last update, I've decided to change a few more things in regards to the scenes of the music video. Since I won't necessarily be moving around from place to place, I decided to cut the scenes where I'm driving. Since I'm the one who will be driving, I think this will be the safest thing to do considering the circumstances.   Again, like I said, due to the change I was presented with last blog, I have to change the original plot of the movie. The movie will be mostly centered around the garden!

Production Blog: Update

Image
Hi guys! I hope you guys are having a good day thus far! I, unfortunately, come with bad news. My dad is unexpectedly going out of town for a month and will not be able to go with me to the gardens. Since my parents are separated and my sister is on my dad's side, I won't be able to record the shots that were supposed to have her in them. I already recorded some clips but, thankfully, they weren't any major clips that took a long time to shoot.  With this major change, I'm going to have to make a few changes to the original storyboard of the music video. Instead of it being the main character's birthday, it'll just be a day spent at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. No matter what, I will definitely be getting the recordings at the garden.   With this change, I'll also probably have to make the gardens the actual "main character." Instead of the music video centering itself around the birthday of a main character and how she spent the day,

Production Blog: Day One

Hey guys!!! Today, I was supposed to begin recording some clips. I can only record so many clips since the garden most of the video is going to take place at is an hour away from me by car. I plan on going to the garden with my family on a date a bit closer to the due date of the music video. This way, I can get it all done on time.  In the meanwhile, I was going to begin recording the scenes in which I'm in a car. I can begin to record those since I have my own car to film in. I could also begin recording the scenes that record the mc's point of view as she looks out her car window. There isn't much for me to do at this point, especially since I don't really have to coordinate recording with others. In the music video, I will be the character the appears the most. In short, I will be my own mc.   Since I obviously can't record myself on my own, I'm having my younger brother, Gabriel, help me. Luckily, he's a decent videographer. The only issue with this is

Storyboard

Image
Hi guys!! I finally finished my storyboard! It took a lot of time to put it together and I really hope the production goes as planned! Of course, this storyboard may not be what the final product will look like, but this is what I have for my vision! Box 1:  In the first scene, the main character (mc) wakes up and crosses out the date on the calendar. The day will be marked with "BIRTHDAY."  Box 2:  In the second scene, we see an over the shoulder shot of the mc getting ready to go to celebrate her birthday with her family! Box 3:  In the third scene, we get a point of view shot of a car window. The mc is now with her father and on the road to a surprise location to celebrate her birthday. Box 4:  In scene four, we are again shown a point of view shot of the mc and her family arriving the surprise location. It is a Japanese garden! Specifically, Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. The mc loves gardens. Box 5:  Scene 5 captures the mc's reaction in arriving to the &qu

Planning for my Music Video

Image
Hiii guys!! I hope you're all doing well! Today's the day I start my planning!! I'm actually so excited to do this music video- I put so much thought into the thought!   For my selected song, I decided to fit the name of the song. I decided that the music video will take place on the main character's birthday. The music video will represent the "good day" she has during her birthday. At the end, I plan on capturing a close-up shot of the main character blowing out a candle. As for the location for the main recording, at first, I was thinking of doing a fair or a mall. I think a fair is a cool idea, but I wouldn't be able to incorporate my desired final shot. Then I started thinking of more places the music video could take place, and then it hit me. A Japanese botanical garden. I've only been to one, and it was so gorgeous. After the thought of the garden popped in my head, I ultimately chose the garden. I'll keep the mall as a Plan B just in case

Music Video Conventions

Image
Hi guys!! I hope you guys are all doing well! For my music video, I wanted to talk about the conventions in Alternative R&B. Since the song I chose, "Good Days" by SZA, is Alternative R&B, I looked at songs within the same genre to see if there was a common theme between them all. Not only did I encounter a bunch of new music I enjoyed, I also found a bunch of similarities between the music videos. In all of the Alternative R&B music videos I watched, the theme of "good vibes" was always conveyed somehow. For example, in SZA's music video, she's in a sort of wonderland. She dances and seems to be just enjoying herself in this wonderland. Of course, this could be obvious though since the song's name is "Good Days." Another example of the theme of "good vibes" being expressed is in Steve Lacy's "Bad Habit," in which he appears to be in an empty room just having fun. He dances to himself as he wears some cool

My Group for the Music Video

Image
Hi guys!!! I'm back with another post in relation to my music video!!  Everyone in my class is working on their music video in a group, but I'm working alone. To be honest, I had a doctors appointment the day we chose groups and the people I wanted to work with ended up getting into a group LOL. However, I'm not upset at the idea of working alone. Working in a group can get quite complicated sometimes- especially when it comes to conflicting schedules. This being said, despite the workload being a bit bigger, I'm quite satisfied with working alone. I feel that by working alone, I'll be able to really make it my own. I don't necessarily have an issue with working in a group, but they both have their respective pros and cons. Besides, working alone doesn't mean that I can't ask my super awesome friends to help me with certain things!   For the song I'll be using, I chose to use Good Days by SZA. Overall, the vibe of the song is really easy to create

Introduction to the Music Video

Image
Hi everyone! My name is Eva Lopez and I'm 17 years old! I was born in the United States and have lived in Florida my whole life. I'm fluent in two languages: Spanish and English. I'm currently in my last year of high school and hope to be attending the University of Florida after graduating! I plan on pursuing a career in the medical field. I specifically want to be a pediatrician! I have always loved kids and I work really well with them! However, for the time being, I'm a hostess at a restaurant near the beach. When I'm not at school (or work), I usually spend my time with my family. Occasionally, though, I spend time with my boyfriend! I rarely get to see my boyfriend anymore due to the fact that he's now a freshman at the University of Florida :(. My boyfriend and I have been together for a little over a year now! It's always fun taking a field trip to go see him in Gainesville (despite the fact that I get carsick quite often).   My favorite class at
