Title Research: Parasite

1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?

The title on this film is very simplistic, the first thing you see being "CJ Entertainment Presents" and "A Barunson E&A Production" followed by the next shot of them living in a not so nice home as we get a street level view of the neighborhood to show the disparity while the name of the movie "Parasite" is etched into one of the windows.

2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?

The first panels we see is Kim's family in a cramped semi basement apartment, by doing this quickly, the viewers can instantly get a grasp on their economic status in the movie and even get some ideas on where the movie is is heading later in the film. As well as the family tries to figure out their neighbors Wi-Fi password as they cannot afford their own.

3. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?

One of the biggest things is how they show the contrast in the living conditions. For instance in the start of the movie they show Kim's cramped tiny apartment in which his living conditions are severely horrible. This is completely contrasted to when the Park family is introduced, creating a great divide between the two classes. As well as showing the immediate greed of Kim's family when the two families begin to merge due to their meticulous planning on how to get rid of the family.
